This is the text I am using for Corporate Finance.  It comes highly recommended, just check out the back cover.  The text comes with access to the MyFinanceLab website with chapter summaries, problems and self assessment exams.
There is also a study guide for this for those who want a little more help.

Principles of Corporate Finance  
by Brealy Myers and Allen

This is one of my textbooks of choice for learning corporate finance.  It is an investment for a student of finance as in addition to being a good textbook it will be an invaluable resource at critical moments in your future when you need to look up how to think about or do something related to finance. 

There is also a very useful Solution Manual for those you want solutions to all of the end of chapter problems.

There is also a Study Guide for those who need a little more help in working through the concepts.

Fundamentals of Corporate Finance 5th Ed
by Ross, Westerfield , and Jordan

This is another market leader in principles of corporate finance.  More focus ed on valuation and management issues.

 Corporate Financial Management
by Emery and Finnerty

This is a very readable textbook that provides clearer discussions in some cases and additional examples of the material in Brealy and Myers.

Financial Markets and Corporate Strategy
by Grinblatt and Titman

This fundamental corporate book takes a more market oriented approach to the issues.  A bit more technical than the other books

Valuation: Measuring and Managing the Value of Companies, 3rd Edition
by McKinsey & Company Inc., Tom Copeland, Tim Koller, Jack Murrin

This is one of the most widely used manuals on valuation.  It covers all sorts of issues and has a few chapters on valuing foreign operations and foreign companies.

Real Options: A Practitioner's Guide
by Tom Copeland and Vladimir Antikarov

A popular book on the concepts and issues of real options. A great read for those with some basic knowledge of finance.

This is the new market leader for international corporate finance issues

Multinational Financial Management
by Alan C. Shapiro 

This is a good all- around book on international financial management and basics of international markets. But pass over the section on international capital budgeting.

Multinational Finance 3rd
by Kirt Butler

This book  provides a good treatment of multinational
corporate financial management and international capital markets.  It has a great focus on multinational strategy, corporate governance, and real options.

International Financial Markets : Prices and Policies  2nd Edition
by Richard M. Levich 

This is a good book on international financial markets and instruments.  It looks at both the economic determinants of prices, price changes and price
relationships as well as the policy issues for both business and government actors.

Emerging Financial Markets
by David O. Beim, Charles W. Calomiris

The first book specifically on financial markets in emerging market countries.

by John D., Finnerty Ph.D. 

A good book describing project finance for those with some finance background but not experience in project finance.

Modern Project Finance
by Ben Esty

A great case study based book on project finance from one of the leading academics in the area

The Complete Finance Companion

A collection of short articles (3-6 pages) on a large set of the important concepts in finance, from corporate to investing,  risk management to derivative pricing.  A great book to prepare for finance interviews.

The Handbook of Fixed Income Securities
by Frank J. Fabozzi (Editor)

A collection of good articles for finance students on fixed income securities.  Very good on institutional and structural issues. A good way to learn about the fixed income market and its activities

  

  Accounting 

Essentials of Accounting  
by Anthony and Pearlman

A workbook for accounting beginners.  No previous knowledge required.  This is used as preparation for first semester at Harvard Business School.  Work through this book and you will understand the basics of financial accounting.   If you are not interested in the work book you can consider the review book of just the text material.  Same info just no blanks to fill in. It is titled Core Concepts of Accounting  

Financial Accounting,  Fifth Edition
by Harrison and Horngren

This is the textbook used in the Accounting skills course at SAIS.  It can act as a useful reference book for issues in professional financial accouting

Introduction to Financial Accountin
by Horngren, Sundem and Elliott

This is a best selling introductory textbook on financial accounting.  It is more comprehensive than the workbook above but less advanced than the standard MBA level Financial Accounting book above. 

Financial Statement Analysis and Security Valuation
by Stephen H. Penman

New book by a well-known accounting professor.  Covers all of the detailed issues of financial statement analysis for the purposes of security valuation 

The Analysis and Use of Financial Statements
by White, Fried and Sondhi

This is a classic and very detailed book on the interpretation of financial statements.  It is used by experts in the field and is recommended only for those going into positions needing strong financials statement analysis skills.  It is a great reference book for this topic

International Accounting
by Frederick D. S. Choi, Carol Ann Frost, Gary Meek, Fredrick S. Choi,
Gerhard G. Mueller

This one of the few up to date textbooks on international accounting.  Its authors are among the top academics in the area.  I have an old edition and find it useful.

A hilarious look at the life of associates at DLJ in the mid 1990s.  A must read for anyone thinking about a IB job.  Good explanations of how investment banking works and what investment banking associates actually do to make all that money.

FIASCO: Blood in the Water on Wall Street
by Frank Partnoy

A fun and useful read by a former derivatives trader at Morgan Stanley, who exposes the seamier side of high-stakes finance.  A good introduction in to the world of derivatives and how they are used. 

Liar's Poker : Rising Through the Wreckage on Wall Street
by Michael Lewis

The classic tell all book about life as a trader in the 1980s on Wall Street.  A great book on how thing work on a trading floor as told by an insider.

 An history and account of the currency crises of the early 1990s and the people behind it
