Chinese Students

Studying at the Center alongside the international students are up to fifty Chinese students from universities and research institutes around China. Unlike other programs where Chinese students from the host university are drafted to act as roommates for foreign students, the Chinese students at the Center are an integral part of the Center's program.

Chinese Student Academic Year Program

Chinese students study international relations, economics, and American Studies in English with American professors recruited by Johns Hopkins University. Much of the curriculum is similar to that of the international students including courses such as Sino-American Relations, Law and the International System, American History, Comparative Economic Systems, Comparative Political Development, International Trade and Finance, the Environment, Development and Global Security.

Chinese student profile

The current Chinese students come from some of China's most prominent universities and research institutions including Beijing University, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Shenyang Institute of Science and Technology, Xiamen University, Beijing Economic College, Heilongjiang Academy of Social Sciences, and Zhongshan University. About two-thirds are second year M.A. students; the remainder have been working mainly as teachers and researchers.

Chinese students, including those carrying PRC, Hong Kong and Taiwanese passports, interested in attending the Center should contact Nanjing directly for an application.
